2021 Junior TId and Development Squads

Newton Jaguars takes Junior Development very seriously, with A LOT of fun!!

Our youngest Jags (5 to 7) can start off in the Net Set Go program - usually held in Term 2 and 4.

Once they have turned 7, players can join our competitive teams. We play in the AMND competition on Saturday mornings at Mile End during winter and the SADNA competition at Golden Grove on Tuesday (Juniors & Sub Juniors) and Friday (Sub Primary & Primary) nights over summer (Term 4 & 1).

2022 Junior Age Groups are as follows:

Sub Primary - 9 & U (2013-2015) *must turn 7 before 1 April 2022

Primary - 11 & U (2011-2012)

Sub Junior - 13 & U (2009-2010)

Junior - 15 & U (2007-2008)

Our first focus is on the improvement of skill through enjoyment. It is important for all our players to enjoy their netball and feel valued as a person and player. Our coaches are super supportive and work to develop the team and individuals together. The club supports this by providing in-house and Netball Australia learning opportunities. We are continually reviewing and developing our practices to ensure we can provide the best to our coaches and players.

We have a winter development program that provides players different opportunities to learn and are in the process of reviewing this and our Pre Season sessions for Primary, Sub Junior, and Junior aged players. Throughout their netball journey, the players have access to Premier League players through our specific Development Skill Sessions and Buddy Player programs. We are also fortunate to have access to SSN Adelaide Thunderbird Players as club ambassadors.

In 2021, we re-established our high-performance Junior programs -  through the Junior Talent Identification and Junior Development Squads. The program runs across the summer period, with its foundations based on our former Junior Academy program with alignment with the Netball SA Academy program age groups.

Junior Talent Identification (TId) Squad

Players in the AMND Sub Junior 1 and Junior 1 & 2 teams are automatically selected for the Junior TId Squad. Additional players may be selected from summer trials or identified by the program selection panel. The squad program embodies elite athlete pathways. With a focus on individual player development and club expectations. For the older players, there is a focus on the transition to the Intermediate age group and expectations at Premier League level.

Junior Development Squad

The Junior Development Squad is for our younger age grouped players. Those automatically selected are our AMND Primary 1 team and first-year Sub Junior players who are selected in the AMND Sub Junior 1-3 teams. The sessions aim to give players a 'taster' of the Junior Talent Identification program and is a stepping stone in their development.

Importantly ALL our players (whether part of the programs or not) are encouraged to pursue player pathways - such as the School Sport SA State U12 and U15 teams and the Netball SA Academy and State U17 Team. NOTE - players must check with School Sport SA and Netball SA directly for the eligibility requirements.

More information about our Junior programs can be found here. Any questions should be emailed to the Junior Coordinator.
