JAGS League won against Sasi 70 - 43

JAGS Reserves lost against Cheerio 61 - 39

Jags had mixed results with a win and a loss. The League team had their now traditional slow start (a bit faster out of the blocks please to settle supporter nerves!) and were held to 15 all at quarter time by SASI and a lead of 3 (31-28) at half time. A few words of "encouragement" from coach Rod Webster and the introduction of captain Mandy Edwards saw the team click into gear and score 39 goals in the second half which was enough for a comfortable win in the end. The reserves on the other hand didn't have a good night, running into a red hot Cheerio and were playing catchup all game. While all players tried hard right to the end their efforts fell short against a more experienced and seasoned Cheerio.

SATURDAY 1 MAY 2010

AMND - JAGS 38 defeated by Contax 48

A Grade - JAGS 30 defeated by Contax 53

B2 - JAGS 52 defeated Harlequin 42. Looking for our 3rd win of season the standard of the game started at a high level, with a revamped line up due to the skipper being out of town, the new combination clicked very well. Developing a break on the opposition we were able run out winners by 10 goals maintaining our 3 wins from as many games. Coach Kevin Henderson.

C1- JAGS57defeated by Cougars 59

C2 - JAGS 34 defeated Cheerio 32. The team won their third game in a row this week beating the second placed Cheerio by 2 goals. The girls fought hard in the warm conditions to focus and put together some good plays when needed. We are looking forward to improving on our fitness and correcting simple errors in the weeks to come. Coach Anita Quinlivan.

Inter1 - JAGS 33 defeated by Cougars 62. Another tough and physical game saw Jags go down to Cougars. The final score does not show the strong play by Jags in the 2nd and 4th quarters where we restricted Cougars scoring and capitalised on our opportunities to have a difference of only a couple of goals for those quarters. There were some good passages of play that we will focus on as we look towards our next game. Coach Jodie Freund .

Inter 3 - JAGS 54 defeated Oakdale 38. Looking for our third successive win, at the end of the first quarter we trailed Oakdale by 2 goals. After a positional change with Bella to GD and Laura to WD we never looked back finishing with an impressive win. Tori and Morgan continued to show their increasing confidence under the ring with a combined accuracy of 76%. Whilst Bella given the opportunity at GD rose to the occasion with endless intercepts and turnovers and is to be congratulated on her outstanding performance. A great team effort once again, next week we take on Harlies. Keep going girls, well done! Coach - Leanne Nelson

Inter 4 - JAGS 32 defeated by Cheerio 37. Today we had our first loss. Everyone gave their all, however only having 7 players in warm conditions limited our rotation options. Coach Kaye O'Rielly

Junior 1 - JAGS 34 defeated by Contax 43. The season started on court 1 against last years premiers. ‘A fine start enabled on early lead to be established. As the game developed the opponents gained a slight upper hand however the players were determined to the finish with plenty of positives coming from the game. Coach Kevin Henderson.

Junior 2 - JAGS 34 defeated Oakdale 31

Junior 4 - JAGS (2) 29 defeated Tango 28

& JAGS (1) 26 drew with Cougars 26

Junior 6 - JAGS 18 defeated by Oakdale 22

Junior 7 - JAGS 7 defeated by Semaphore 48

Sub Junior 2 - JAGS 22 defeated by Western Jets 23. A very encouraging result for the start of the 2010 winter season. Being our first game for the season the players were suitably excited and fired up and we certainly took on our opposition without fear. The girls showed that they have the ability to match it with anyone and we just have to finetune some skills. I was happy with their effort and look forward to training this week and working on areas of the game we need to improve on. Overall, a great start to the year. Well done everyone! Coach Karen O'shaughnessy.

Sub Junior 3 - JAGS 16 defeated by Harlequin 18. Today was a really good start to our season even though we lost the game by two goals. As the match progressed our team became more confident in their play. They demonstrated some very promising skills and decision making which we will continue to develop through our training sessions. Given the limited time we have had to practice together I was very pleased with the girls' effort particularly with the fact they kept working hard right up to the end of the game. Well done everyone. Coach Carolyn Eaton.

Sub Junior 4 - JAGS 7 defeated by Western Jets 8. In a very low scoring game, the team was unlucky to lose the first game of the season by one goal, scored on the final whistle of the game. It took the best part of the first quarter for the team to settle, without scoring, but from the second quarter on there was steady improvement and by the fourth quarter we were playing well together as a team. Against a taller, bigger team, our girls played a good defensive game, with some very good, consistent circle defence. The team's persistence and improved attacking was rewarded after half time, holding Jets scoreless in the third quarter and outscoring them by 3 goals in the last quarter. Coach Carolyn Datsun.

Sub Junior 6 - Ladybirds 36 defeated Jags 4 – Unfortunately for our first game we came up against a much stronger team who outplayed us all over the court. There were some promising signs from the girls which gives us something to work with over the coming weeks. The girls never gave up trying to do their best and kept their heads up all game, which was very pleasing. Keep going girls, your perseverance and determination will reward you. Coach – Katrina Day

Sub Junior 7 - BYE this week

Sub Junior 8 - JAGS 30 defeated Woods Panthers 6

Primary 1 – JAGS 5 defeated by Contax 24. Congratulations girls on a fantastic first game effort against a very, very tall Contax Team. Working well together as a new team we never gave up and showed great determination. Several great intercepts and passages of play were shown throughout the game. Well done girls, Mikayla, Hannah, Emily, Brianna, Victoria, Charlotte, Alex and Georgia. Coach - Karen Braund

Primary 5 - JAGS 25 defeated Matrics 7. Nine very excited girls met at court 18 today to play their first game of netball together as a team. For some, it was their first time at ETSA Park so it was even more exciting! All the girls shared positions on the court throughout the game, mixing it up each quarter, all showing skills in various aspects of the game. For me, as their coach, it was lovely to be able to offer snippets of advice at the quarter breaks to a bunch of kids so eager to learn and have fun. I was very impressed with the team today, we have the potential to be a very balanced and committed team, and I can’t wait till next Saturday when we can do it all again. Well done Girls…I like what I see J.” Coach Sue Jones

Primary 6 - JAGS 4 defeated by Oakdale 8

Primary 7 - JAGS 21 defeated Woods Panthers 3

Sub Primary 1 - JAGS 10 defeated Western Jets (2) 7. 8 very excited girls lined up to play the first game of the season. We have 3 new girls who have joined the team - Jade, Josie and Annie. It was their first game of netball and they all did a great job. Brooke was on fire in goals, with great back up from Thalia, Stephanie, Holly and Jade. Sophie just ran and ran in centre, getting some great intercepts in the bargain. Everyone worked as a team and there was lots of calling and creating space. When the final whistle blew 8 very tired, but happy girls left the court. Coach Elyse Morris .
