Big wins for league and reserves

Both the State League and the Reserves recorded big wins over a hapless Tango on Friday night.

In the early game the Reserves rocked by sickness and injuries fielded a side that included debutante Annie Galvin. Galvin easily accounted for her more experienced opponent in the goal circle to repel Tango scoring opportunities. The Jags put four good quarters together to post a 23 goal win 64-41.

The League got out of the blocks early and despite losing Emily Van Den Munckhof early to injury, continued to pile on the goals. Adele Fanesi replaced the injured Van Den Munckhof and put in an outstanding effort. Jags continued their dominance in the second half and ran out comfortable 78 - 36 winners.

Both teams have 4 games left in the minor round.

C2

The Jags C2 team suffered a large loss to the undefeated Cheerio on Saturday. Due to illness and injury we had minimal defence and had to call upon players not normally in our team and we thank them for there efforts. We are looking forward to having our normal team back next week and rebounding with a solid performance. Coach Anita Quinlivan.

Primary 4

Another great effort from the team this week, beating Jets by 3 goals – 10 to 7. Our defence made the difference with all the girls showing their determination to ‘toughen up” in that department, causing many turn overs throughout the game. Too difficult to name a stand out player or play maker this week…all contributed evenly and consistently in their designated court positions. Top marks to all! Coach Sue Jones.

Primary 7

Well we were all up an extra ½ hour earlier this week so we could all get our photos taken before the game! Can’t wait to see them!

We came up against Woods Panthers whom we had beaten last time by 2 goals! It was a tough game as the opposition had a strong goalie! Lizzy did a FANTASTIC job in defence. She shut the goalie down! Bianca did an awesome job this week. She is really starting to settle at WD. She set up for the base line throw in EVERY time. She then also provided some strong leads down the court to help bring the ball out of defence. We won 10 – 9 this week. With all players contributing to the win! Well done girls. Coach Tobie Steen
