C2

In the second game this week the team were just beaten by Woods Panthers 45-49. All players are starting to play well as a team. Coach Anita Quinlivan.

B2

Jags defeated Pembroke 44-40. With the challenge of working a brand new defensive end, we expected some teething issues in the opening stages. Pembroke made the most of this and was ahead at the end of the first. Our passion took precedent over patience, resulting in wayward passes, cluttered spaces and scatty passages of play. We soon refocused and through the application of exceptional front and mid court pressure led by Tahlia and Elyse, we drew ourselves back into the match. The addition of Steph in defense provided great pressure and well needed drive, with the twin towers of Darien and Kirby up front proving nigh unbeatable. Coach Dick Sander.

JUNIORS - All 7 junior teams started the season on a winning note with margins ranging from 1 goal to 52 goals. What a start to the season, well done to all junior players and coaches.

Junior 2

The Junior 2 team had a tremendous tussle with Tango with barely a goal the difference until late in the last quarter where Tango cleared out to a 5 goal lead, through tremendous determination and teamwork our players fought back strongly in the closing minutes to grab a I goal victory, well done to all players. Coach Kevin Henderson.

Junior 8

The Junior 8 girls were quick to settle in the first quarter and found their rhythm easily as many players were already familiar with the playing styles of others. Mid court players were able to open up play to effectively feed the goal scorers throughout while the defense was able to easily intercept any attacks. The team remained consistent throughout and produced their 1st win of the season (63-11). Coach Jo Goodfellow.

Junior 9

Wow, what a way to start the season, such a positive performance by the whole team. All the way down court the teamwork showed through. A Very positive all game. With many interceptions allowing us to keep Cheerio 5 goals and under every quarter! The attack line moved the ball around well with forward leads and strong positive passing. Georgia, Cat, Claudia, Ashleigh, Olivia, Caitlin, Gemma, Claire, Amy – Well done girls I am very proud of you all for a whole game team effort. You all did everything that I asked of you. Let’s keep it up for the rest of the season.” Coach Tracey Robinson

Sub Junior 1

Jags lost to Matrics 33-19 in our season opener. Despite the scoreline, the team had patches of good play and it has given us the opportunity to see where we stand and where we need to improve. Overall I was glad to get the first game out of the way and look forward to the challenge ahead. I was proud of how the girls finished out the game still chasing balls down and keeping their heads up. Coach Karen O'Shaughnessy.

Sub Junior 2

In the first game of the season for a team of mostly 1st season Sub Juniors the team took on a taller and stronger opponent in Oakdale. All tried their best and will continue to develop as the season progresses.

Special thank you to Umpire trainees Claire and Mel for your help last Tuesday night with our training session, it was greatly appreciated. Coach Julie Martin.

Primary 3

The girls went out Saturday morning full of beans and very excited about playing their first game together. This level competition was always going to be tough for us, and Woods proved to be the better side on the day. Super efforts by all Jags players though, who improved on their skills as each quarter passed. The girls will be excited to improve even more next week. Top marks to Victoria for her gutsy intercept attempts and to Jessamie for finding the confidence to give GA a go and even score a goal! Coach Sue Jones.

Primary 7.

Well, the weather couldn't have been better for our first match! The first quarter saw us out scored 5 - 0. Nerves played a big part in that! Second quarter saw us out score our opponents 2 - 5. Everything settled and things started to flow. The third quarter saw us even and then we were outscored by 3 goals in the last quarter. Everyone gave 100%. They all listened and were a pleasure to coach. We have some real stars in this team and I think going forward we are going to be a team to be reckoned with! Well done to Misty, she didn't step, had strong accurate passes and intercepted and rebounded like a true champion! Coach Tobie Steen.
