STATE LEAGUE

In the Grand Final rematch Jags got off to a reasonable start against the reigning premier. However Contax boosted by the return of Thunderbirds players Altschwager and Reddy started to control the game. Jags struggled to contain the two Contax shooters for most of the match, whilst it was a heavily contested tussle in the midcourt. The Jags shooters worked hard for their rewards. Despite trailing by over 12 goals at half time, Jags fought back in the third quarter, completely dominating the game. Coming in at only 4 goals down at the final break, Jags looked like they could go on with it and win the game. However Contax rallied and ran out 13 goal winners 61-48.

STATE LEAGUE RESERVES

The Reserves after being 3 from 3 faced the only other undefeated team in Contax. In a dour struggle Contax dominated for most of the game. The low score indicated both defences were on top for most of the game, shutting out the shooters. However Contax dominated the mid court, and through sheer volume of shots were able to post the winning score. A first half lead by Contax couldn't be pulled back despite an even second half.

B5

This match was always going to be tough. We played Old Ignatians who were on second position on the ladder and beat their opposition last week 55 to 35. As did all the senior teams this week we went into the match with 4 players from last weeks team promoted. The first quarter was tough as we learned to play together. The second quarter we drew having reshuffled the team slightly. We fell behind again in the last half. The final score was a loss, 18 to 36. Our defence was really solid all game. All played well and never once looked like giving up. Deserving particular mention is Claire Weekley from the C2’s who was second best on court for the day.
