Jags Miss out on GF Glory

In yet another sensational Grand Final finish Newton Jaguars failed in the last minute to get over Contax to take the State Leagues ultimate prize.

Jags who looked gone midway through the last quarter, down by 7 goals clawed their way back into the game with some tremendous defensive work to level the scores with under 2 minutes to go. A crucial call by the umpire handed the ball over to Contax as Jags looked to set up a goal, and saw Contax seal a two goal lead. As time ran out Jags were unable to do anymore. Pleasing was not only the performance of the team as a whole, but of several of the teams younger players who stood up, and showed Jags will be back for more.

The battle was another epic, and congratulations go to the Contax netball club on a great win. In the second meeting in a row, a new rivalry is emerging and there is no doubt these two clubs will face off again in the future.

A large crowd of Jags supporters attended the Friday night final, a figure not unnoticed by the State League team. The club appreciates the support of its players, sponsors and staff in the rise of the club in recent years.
