JAGS On Rampage

Newton Jaguars went on a rampage on Friday night in its game against SASI. The SASI youngsters were no match for a Jags team that are now hitting their best form. Already having posted 49 goals by half time, Jags took the opportunity to rotate some players leading up to Tuesday nights game against Matrics. Carrie Worthley was taken off in the last quarter, and Mel Summers replaced Mandy Edwards at Goal Defence after the major break whilst Nicole Wood moved to centre allowing Edwards to move out to wing defence. The team played some quick fluid netball and won every position on court. A big 63 point win resulted with a 90 - 27 scoreline. A win on Tuesday would see Jags start to consolidate its position in the top three and challenge for a top two finish.

The Reserves suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Cheerio by 20 goals (40-60). After a promising start Jags trailled by 2 at quarter time. They played good netball and rarely made any errors. In the second quarter Jags failed to deal with some tight defensive pressure from Cheerio and allowed them to break away to lead by 13 goals at half time. This blew out to 20 by the third break when Jags held them for the last quarter. Jags will be looking to bounce back against Matrics on Tuesday night.

The AMND results were generally pleasing. The seniors continue to do well with the AMND league team handing Garville a 12 goal defeat, the A's were not so fortunate against Sacred Heart losing by 10 goals. The B3's had a tough game against the experience of Heatwave and lost by 6 goals. Whilst the C1's went down to Woods whilst the C2's won a thriller against Westminster.

The Inter 1's continue on their charge with a good 9 goal win over Woods. Bec Claughton played well at Goal Shooter, whilst Elyse Carey fed well from WA. Alana Wood was again solid in defence with her no nonsense attack at the ball. The Inter 2's had a bye whilst the 3's playing on court 1 lost to Matrics by 12. The 4's had a good win over Jets winning by 22 goals, but the 5's suffered a 6 goal loss to Garville.

The Junior 1's suffered their first defeat going down to Cougars by 9 goals, whilst the J3's lost to Matrics. The J4's were unlucky in their game against Harlies going down by 2 goals despite a great effort. In the Junior 6 grade , mixed results for our two teams with the Jags (1) team clouting Semaphore in a 62 to 21 point drubbing, whilst the Jags(2) team lost to Oakdale by 10. The J7's lost by 8 to Matrics.

The Sub Juniors continue to improve with most teams now playing up in grade from where they started. The SJ2's lost their game against Tango, whilst the SJ4's lost to Semaphore. Better results in the 5's with Jags running out 21 goal winners against Cougars. The SJ6's played an enthralling draw against Garville. The Jags(1) team in SJ7 lost by 10 to Ladybirds whilst the Jags(2) team lost their way against Tango.

The Primaries also continue to do well with the P2's keeping their focus and in a great team defensive effort, saw them force many turnovers in all areas of the court. Good feeding into the cirlce saw the shooters capitalise on their opportunities to see them run out 3 goal winners. The Primary 4's had a narrow win, getting up over Cougars by 2 goals. The P5's allowed only 1 goal to be scored by its opposition as it won 22 to 1 over Oakdale. The P6's recorded a 6 goal win against Harlequin.

The H Grade remains undefeated after their 53 - 6 win over Woods.
