AMND
Jags 49 vs Woods 52 Jags AMND were defeated by top of the ladder Woods by 3 goals on Saturday. Final score 52-49. A top effort by all ladies and adapted very well to a new line up & changes. Teri Schubert shot 31/37 = 84% as a GA - an fantastic game & deserved the best on ground this week. The girls always fight to the end and make the opposition work for every ball. The margin was tight for the whole game and it was our turnovers which were costly in the end. Valuing the ball is something we focus on each week as it is so close throughout the high standard AMND competition. We will come back from this as we have a strong determined team. Looking forward to next week to see how our girls show their resilience.

The Mid Hills Carnival attended by the club's Junior one and Sub junior teams. The Junior one team was predominantly players in that team, however the Sub junior team had players from all four grades representing the club! Both teams were undefeated until the Grand Final when unfortunately the Juniors encountered a spirited Cougars team and were defeated easily. The Sub Juniors played a wonderful game and toughed it out to beat Tango for the second time that day by just one goal! Many thanks should go to our Coaches, Dani Johnson, Carolyn Eaton and Katrina Day who gave up a part of their week end to give the girls an opportunity like this. More many of the Sub juniors it was their first Netball Carnival!! To our umpire Alexandra Braund (unfortunately our other umpire was ill on the day) many thanks for a job well done! All the girls represented their club with pride and a great day was had by all who attended. The new gazebo was also put to good use.
We took a combined Newton Jaguars Sub-Junior team to the Mid-Hills Carnival on Sunday 19th May and we won the day, defeating Tango in the Grand Final by 1 goal. The team consisted of 5 SJ1 players, 2 SJ2 players, 3 SJ3 players and 1 SJ4 player and the fantastic thing about this was, that by the end of the day nobody would have thought these girls didn't play together as a team every week. The camaraderie that developed between the girls as the day progressed was a joy to witness, with the girls encouraging and applauding each other both on and off the court. All of the girls contributed and it was great to see their confidence and self belief growing in each game. The girls went through the day undefeated (playing 5 round robin games, semi-final & grand-final) and should be very proud of what they achieved. A big thank you to Alex Braund for umpiring, Lisa and Tony Castelluzzo for the organizing and setting up of the gazebo, arranging scorers (as well as all the other little things that just happen) and all of the parents for supporting myself and the girls, I certainly appreciated it and I am sure the girls did as well. Finally, to the girls, a big thank you for your efforts, it was a huge day and I am sure you were all exhausted by the end, but I still have a big smile on my face, not only because you won but because of all the little things that I saw you achieve as both individuals and as a team. WELL DONE. Coach – Katrina Day |

The reserves played two games this week with mixed results. They had a very good win against Cougars by 23 goals. This was a great team effort and every one won their position. The incentives where given to Bianca O'connor & Che Revill. Friday nights game how ever saw us lose by 5 goals which was very disappointing having been up for the 1st half of the game. Silly errors and a lapse in concentration let us down. We need to play 4 quarters of netball not just 2. Incentive goes to Alicia Keene. |
